This page provides an overview of EchoVideo's releases and enhancements. Each month, new updates and improvements are deployed. Here, you can find a list of released features and see what is planned on their Roadmap (bottom of this article). Bookmark this page to stay informed.

EchoVideo got smarter with AI-powered feature AskEcho generate content based off of your transcript, improved accessibility with Chapters, a new Live Player, capabilities for instructors to delete classroom generated captures, add copyright permissions to your media, a new responsive video player (screen adjustment across all devices) and more.

AskEcho – AI Tools and Generated Content

AskEcho is a brand new feature powered by artificial intelligence (AI) provides faculty tools to enhance teaching and learning, simplify content creation, video engagement, and interactive study aids to support student success. 

AskEcho Generated Content appears after recording has been watched in its entiretyAskEcho AI feature generates content based off of your transcript. The sample image to the left, shows the student experience (coming soon with Folders).

  • AskEcho AI - Metadata 

    • AskEcho helps instructors generate Titles, Descriptions, Tags, "Summary, FAQs, Study Cards and Quizzes."  You can choose what you want AskEcho to generate and edit and remove content as needed.

      • Generated by AskEcho: Chapters (available now) helps students navigate segments of a long lecture, includes manual and import options. Students can easily access specific chapters via the gear icon in the video player.
  • AskEcho AI - Generated Content 

    AskEcho metadata: Summary, FAQs, Study Cards and Quizzes is currently only available for instructors. Here you can review, edit, or remove AI generated content. Once Folders is released students, they can use these study tools to increase their learning.

    Note: AskEcho Generated Content "Summary, FAQs, Study Cards and Quizzes is not available for students to access yet. This feature is coming soon with the upcoming release of Folders late fall 2025. It will not work for EchoVideo courses or embedded content, it will currently only work with Folders. The GenAI star icon will display automatically once students have watched at least 80% of the recorded lecture. The sample image (on the left) shows the student experience. 
     
    • Summary: Concise key takeaways for content covered in your video.
    • FAQs: Generated questions and answers based off your video.
    • Study Cards: Generated flashcards based on your video.
    • AskEcho Quizzes: Generates a practice quiz in a multiple choice format.
       
  • Using AskEcho Tools for Instructors

    • AskEcho helps instructors streamline the creation of metadata for their video content. With AskEcho, you can choose to automatically generate all metadata for your audio or video content or select specific elements you'd like AI to create AskEcho can create:
      • Titles
      • Descriptions
      • Tags
      • Summaries
      • FAQs
      • Study Cards
      • Quizzes
  • To utilize AskEcho, locate and open your recording in your Library, then click AskEcho. See the sample image below on how to access AskEcho. Learn more in this article: Using AskEcho Tools for Instructors

    Important Note: AskEcho requires a transcript to generate content. If no transcript is available, the pink toggles will appear grey and inactive.

New Media Details Page (MDP)

The media details page now features a new look with improved navigation. The editing tools are now easier to find with visual icons found in the left menu. Allowing you access to edit your video, transcript, access Chapters, and add polls. The video player is on the right with the sharing options.

Also new to the MDP is AskEcho a AI-powered feature that lets faculty create AI generated content like Chapters for accessibility, Summaries, FAQs, Study Cards, and Quizzes for interactive activities; focusing on student learning retention (available to students with Folders late fall 2025).

Chapters for Accessibility

Chapters is a new feature that enhances accessibility and comprehension for students. Chapters can be auto-generated with AskEcho powered by AI or they can be added manually or imported (see sample image below). When chapters are added to your audio or video recording, it makes it easier for students to navigate class topics in a lecture.

To access Chapters, click the icon in the left menu, directly under the Transcript icon and above the polling editor.

Click Auto Generate to have AI generate your chapters.

New Live player (optimized views joining remote and in-person)

New look for live streamed classes and viewing experiences for joining in-person and virtually. Instructors offering a live stream class scheduled or adhoc can view who has joined the live stream during/after class, upload a presentation related to the class (engage students with polling slides), use the Classroom tools (e.g. Discussion, Q&A, Flags, etc.) to engage students. 


Embed media in Canvas using EchoVideo Deep Link Embeds

An update was made to the embed tool featuring new enhancements that allows for automatic gradebook syncing and will work with Folders coming this fall.

  • Use the "EchoVideo Deep Link Embeds" tool when when selecting from list of "All Apps."  Do not select Echo360 in the list otherwise the new features won't work.

    Note: If you're new to embedding content in Canvas, you can add media to Announcements, Assignments, Discussions, Pages, Quizzes, and Syllabus content types. The embedded player includes features for Q&A and Discussion, which help engage students and increases their learning. Automatically imports your media to other Canvas courses. Embedded content can be viewed on any device, and the video player adjusts to fit your screen size, whether you are on a computer, tablet, or your mobile device.

Responsive Player for Embedded Content

  • Videos now automatically adjust to screen size across all devices (computer, tablet, and mobile devices) for content that is embedded in Canvas. Note: This does not apply to EchoVideo section published content at this time, only content that has been embedded with the EchoVideo embed tool.
     

Automatic Gradebook Sync to your Canvas Gradebook

  • Instructors can sync grades to Canvas based on views or polling responses. Available from within Canvas, click the EchoVideo Course Analytics tool in the course menu.

    Tip: You must set up your Assignment in Canvas to have zero points otherwise two columns will be created in the Gradebook, then set a due date so it shows up as a To-Do item for students. Then, go to the EchoVideo Course Analytics (left menu of Canvas) click Gradebook to set up grading options.

Accessibility WidgetEchoVideo Accessibility Widget by Userway

This new tool allows all users to customize how they want to view EchoVideo content.

  • Click the Accessibility button while logged into EchoVideo (right of the page). 
  • Customize your viewing experience for all users (e.g. bigger text, cursor, dyslexia-friendly options, adjust text size, spacing, and so much more.

Remove Classroom Captured Recordings

Instructors can now delete classroom captured recordings (scheduled or adhoc). Previously instructors would have to contact ITS to delete classroom captured content from their Library or from a EchoVideo section class. As a reminder, content removed from your Library stores in a Recycle bin (restore content up to 6 months from the deletion.)


Add Copyright Permissions to your Media

Block other users from downloading your media and the transcript. You will have to do this for each individual piece of media.

  • Look for "Permissions" then turn on the following toggles: Copyright >Public Domain >Restrict Download.

  • QuadraVision - Record up to 4 screens instead of two.

December

  • Language translation: Transition from one language to another.
