Overview
Teams meeting recordings are available for 120 days (start of semester to the end). This guide shows you how to download your Teams meeting recording(s) for offline use. However, ITS recommends to simply change the expiration date of your media, all content is accessible in the Stream (on SharePoint app), OneDrive, or can be accessed in Teams.
Download Recordings from Stream (on SharePoint)
You can download a video or audio file if you are the file's owner or have edit permissions.

From the waffle menu, click the Stream icon (see Figure 1).

Then, in the Stream web app in the list, locate your recording and it click it to open it
or click the three dots then select Open, (see Figure 2).

Select the three dots (top menu bar) select Download, (see Figure 3).

The recording will be downloaded to your computer, as a MP4 video file.
Download a Teams meeting recording from OneDrive
Teams meetings recordings can be found in the "Recordings" folder in your OneDrive.
- Open the OneDrive web app, click the waffle menu also known as the App launcher, (see Figure 3).
- Within "My files", locate the "Recordings" folder.
- In "Recordings" folder, find the file you want to download.
- Select the vertical three dot menu and select "Download", (see Figure 4).
- In the Save As window, select your location, rename the file if needed, and click "Save".
- The file is downloaded as an MP4 video file.

Download a Recording from a Teams Meeting Chat (or Channel)
Once the Teams meeting has been recorded, the recording will be posted in the meeting Chat (or Channel).
- Open Teams app, click the Chat (or Channel)
- Find the recording in your chat/channel and click it to select it.
- You will see your Meeting recording, click on the horizontal ellipses and select "Open", (see Figure 5).
Tip: You can also left click with your mouse to open the recording.
- Your recording will open a new browser window.
- You will see a preview of your recording; from the top menu bar click "Download", (see Figure 6).
- In the Save As window, select your location, rename the file if needed, and click "Save".
- The file is downloaded as an MP4 video file.

How to Upload to Another Platform for Reuse
If you know you will reuse your videos for academic or non-academic use, ITS recommends uploading to EchoVideo or Microsoft Stream. We DO NOT recommend uploading your media to Files tool in Canvas it will affect your course quota.
