Respondus - Getting Started FAQs
How do I let students know my course is using LockDown Browser? We recommend to add sample wording (below) to your Syllabus to explain that students must use LockDown Browser and a webcam (Respondus Monitor) for their online tests. You may also find it helpful to create a Page or an Announcement prior to the practice quiz and provide the instructions, copy/paste the wording below.
Sample Wording for your Syllabus
This course requires the use of LockDown Browser and a webcam for online exams. The webcam can be internal in your computer or can be the type that plugs in with a USB cable. Note: It is recommended if you are off SVSU's campus that you have a reliable Internet connection.
Respondus LockDown Browser + Webcam does not identify you in any way, it is simply looking for a face in the video frame during an exam. View Respondus Monitor's Data Privacy Overview for a list of what the software does and does not do.
There will be a practice test with LockDown Browser available so that you can download the software, update to the newest version, and ensure that there will be no technical difficulties during a actual exam. Please view the instructions on how to download and use LockDown Browser in this Respondus - Student Guide.
