Overview
SVSU transitioned to the Zoom Phone System on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. All staff should have phone or a headset based on the survey we sent out. The rest of this article includes instructions on how to login to Zoom with SSO (single-sign on), watch how-to videos, view quick reference guides and learn helpful tips.

IMPORTANT NOTES and TIPS:
- Set your business hours and voicemail settings: View our SVSU How-to Videos on this page.
- External Calls: You no longer need to enter the numbers 9-1 before the number you're dialing. Example, dial the area code and number (e.g., 989-964-1234).
- Zoom desktop app users: Avoid missing calls and set Zoom to launch automatically when your computer starts.
- Sign in to the Zoom Desktop app.
- Click your profile picture (or your initials), then click Settings.
- Click General.
- Under Zoom Workplace App, toggle on Auto-start Zoom Workplace.

Log into Zoom with Single Sign-On (SSO)
IMPORTANT NOTE: Logging into Zoom allows for Single Sign-On using your SVSU email address. You will need to verify your account using your
Multi-factor authentication method. If you are already logged into an SVSU service such as email, Canvas, or mySVSU you will automatically be logged in. Additionally, after you complete SSO for the first time, each login with SSO going forward, will log you in automatically.
There are a few different ways to log into Zoom, see instructions below:

- Visit zoom.us, click

(top-right)
- Click
SSO

- The company domain svsu-edu is filled in for you.
- Click
Continue
- You are automatically logged into Zoom if you have already verified your account with MFA.
Zoom SVSU Portal Page (web browser)
- Go to https://svsu-edu.zoom.us/
- On our landing page you can join, host, or sign into your account.
- Click
Sign in
- The domain svsu-edu is auto filled in for you, click
Continue
.
- You are automatically logged into Zoom if you have already verified your account with MFA.

Zoom App Login
The following steps will work for the Zoom desktop (software installed on your computer) and the mobile app.
- Click
SSO
(key icon) in the bottom-left.
- The domain svsu-edu should be auto filled in for you, click
Continue.
- You may need to verify your account with your MFA authentication method. Note: After signing in for the first time, your login credentials are remembered.

- Click the
Phone
tab in the top menu to make a call.

SVSU How-to Videos
Tip for Voicemail: ITS recommends using Text-to-Speech. For best results, type S V S U (with spaces) so it's pronounced correctly. Also, be sure to assign your voicemail settings to both Open and Closed hours.

Zoom Fax
Zoom Workplace app includes various tools that users can use like the ability to send a fax digitally to a physical fax machine.
Send and Receive a Fax
Users can send and receive faxes directly through the Zoom Workplace app. You can upload multiple PDF files (required for faxing) and enter the recipient's fax number. Users will receive confirmation if a fax was successful or if it failed. View this help guide on how to use the Zoom Fax feature.
