First determine what the assignment requirements from your instructor, the grid below will help you choose the best recording tool.

Best for: Recording presentation slides, biographies with a webcam (optional). Record or upload existing videos. EchoVideo is the go-to tool for recording individual videos. Easily and submit your video within an Assignment or Discussion.

Best for: Practicing your skills, oral presentations, and receive instructor, peer feedback, or participate in group activities. Record on any device and submit your individual or group video within the Canvas Assignment using GoReact.

Best for: Video story telling. Allows you to add text, visual elements or audio effects, and more. Record videos while online on a computer (a mobile app is not available for your SVSU account). Submit and share the video link required by your instructor.

Best for: Recording a video when meeting online to collaborate with your class or specific people. Learn how to join a meeting and record on any device. The meeting organizer can access the recording and share it for submission.

Quick Steps for Individual Video Assignments
- Open the assignment or discussion in Canvas well before the due date.
- Watch the instructor video or read the submission requirements.
- Select the required tool for creating your video.
- Test your microphone and webcam.
- Select your screen, microphone, and record your video.
- Review the video and correct the transcripts and captions (when available).
- Submit the video using the method required in the Canvas assignment or discussion.
- Confirm that your submission was successful.
Recorded Your Video with Another Tool outside of SVSU?

Download the video file from the app or device you used. Then follow the submission method required by your instructor:
- EchoVideo: Upload the file to your Library then use the embed tool Canvas.
- GoReact: Upload the file within the GoReact assignment.
- OneDrive: Use this option only when the assignment asks for a website address.
Accessibility
Review machine generated transcripts and captions (as required by your instructor) before submitting your work. Correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, technical terms, and other text that is incorrect.
- EchoVideo: Generates a transcript after the video is processed.
- GoReact: Provides a searchable transcript.
- Teams: Meeting recordings include a transcript.
- Clipchamp: Can generate automatic captions after the video is added to the editing time line.
