Private Wi-Fi Address fix for SVSU managed Mac devices

With the macOS Sequoia update, macOS now includes a "Private Wi-Fi Address" feature that uses a unique, rotating Wi-Fi address for each network, improving privacy but potentially causing connectivity issues.

This feature will cause SVSU Managed Mac devices to not allow network accounts to log in even if the account is in FileVault. It is included on the following OS types: macOS Sequoia, like iOS 18, iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2

Here are the steps to resolve the issue:
  • By default, the device will use a different Wi-Fi address (MAC address) for each network, enhancing privacy.
  • Open System Settings (or System Preferences) > Network.

  • Click on SVSUSecure.
  • Click on "Details"

  • Select "Private Wi-Fi Address" and choose "Off

This will allow the device to use its hardware MAC Address when it is connecting to the campus wi-fi network.

After these steps have been completed, refer to the FileVault Password is not Syncing with AD Password Knowledge article for the steps to allow FileVault to sync with the network password.
