This article includes apps we already use at SVSU that have AI-Powered Features that can help you get your work done faster and be more productive using Generative AI whether you are being creative, enhancing your daily work flow or video content.

Available for Faculty and Staff, your SVSU email is an Adobe ID. - Use your SVSU email address and password to log in to Adobe and Microsoft 365. Works with Multi-factor Authentication (MFA), verify your login when prompted with your chosen method.

Adobe Firefly (Generative AI)
Create art with AI or use it to enhance it. Adobe Firefly offers powerful GenAI features with the latest Firefly Image Model 5. Content creation is faster with AI and more intuitive. Firefly is integrated into various Adobe products, see list below.
Note on Adobe Privacy. Everything you create with Firefly is private, including any reference styles you upload. Adobe does not use Creative Cloud subscribers' personal content to train Firefly. However, content from Adobe Stock contributors is part of
Firefly’s training data set, in accordance with their license agreements.

Note on Data and Privacy with Copilot Chat embedded in Microsoft 365 applications. Your data is kept private within the application any insights, designs, prompts, and suggestions are not shared or used outside of the application you are using. Thus, it is not training AI models, not even Microsoft can see your data.
Excel
Microsoft Excel has several built-in AI powered features like pattern recognition, recommended charts, forecasting, and more are in development.
- Analyze Data: AI understands your data. Uses natural language queries, ask specific questions about your data, or choose from suggested prompts to showcase data, based on your selection or your question you will see visual representation in formats like tables, PivotTables and charts. Some examples include:
- Autofill: Time saving AI feature in Excel that predicts and completes data patterns, saves you from manual data entry. Some examples of using auto fill include:
- Data from a Picture: Excel uses AI capabalities to analyze the image from a image file, a screenshot, or a photo taken from your smartphone or tablet. The data is converted into a editable table and inserts it into cells, allows you to review the data. This saves from you manual entry time.
- Flash Fill: AI powered feature that looks for patterns in your data and applies it to the entire column. You must type in what you want first, then highlight the cells in the column then choose Flash Fill. Some examples of using Flash fill:
- Recommended Charts: A tool powered by AI that analyzes your data and makes suggestions of charts that represent your data in the most efficient way and suggest charts for you.
Outlook
- Meeting time suggestions (web app and the new Outlook for Windows): Recommends meeting times and uses AI to view invitees' availability on the chosen recipients calendars and finds days/times that work for everyone. Use the Find a time menu to see suggested times, can read up to 10 days. Improved suggested times for meetings in new Outlook and Outlook web - Super Simple 365
- Text predictions (included in Word and Outlook): AI makes typing quick by predicting what your going to say next rather than typing out every single word. Available as part of Microsoft Editor (add as a browser extension). Editor will also check grammar, spelling, tone, clarity, and more. See section, Microsoft Editor (AI Writing Assistant).
- Email Draft Syncing: Syncs your drafted emails across devices and auto-saves, offers content suggestions as you write and work on a different device.
Microsoft Viva Insights
Viva Insights data is private and visible only to you. The Viva Insights add-in for Outlook allows you to stay on top of tasks, prepare for your meetings, track open rate of emails, plan time away, and more, Applies to: Outlook for Microsoft 365 Outlook on the web New Outlook for Windows. Open Viva Insights add-in from your email or go directly to Viva Insights (insights.cloud.microsoft)
- Analyzes work habits and provides personalized focus time tips. Insights is private and excludes identifiable information.
- Viva Insights tracks email and file open rates sent to at least five people. Tracking data is available 30 minutes after sending your email it will be tracked for up to 14 days, you won't see who opened the email just the percentage of the open rate. Note: The data shown displays the overall open rate percentage based on the number of recipients in the email.

Microsoft Editor (AI writing assistant)
Microsoft Editor is an AI-powered writing assistant that is included with Outlook and Microsoft Word available in the desktop or web app. Features include: Tone improvements, text prediction, clarity, conciseness, add a personal dictionary and specific controls within the browser extension.
Microsoft Editor is available in Microsoft 365 apps within the desktop or web app, as an extension in your Google Chrome or Edge browser. Write your best writing anywhere while online or when using Word or Outlook apps. Editor can be added as browser extension. Microsoft Editor | AI Power for your Writing
Note on Data Protection: Your data is private and protected when using Microsoft Editor along with other Microsoft 365 apps adheres to strict data protection and privacy standards for your SVSU account.
Microsoft Copilot Chat (Enterprise Data Protection)
Available to: All employees and registered students.
CoPilot is a Generative AI developed by Microsoft, and it is available for work and school account your SVSU email address. Copilot Chat is powered by openAI's LLM (Latest Language Model) GPT-5, all your prompts and responses are secure and doesn't identify you in any way. Copilot Chat has Enterprise Data Protection (EDP), you will see a green shield indicating your data is protected. Copilot Chat does not train AI models with your data. Microsoft Community Blog: Microsoft Copilot offers enterprise data protection (when signed in with your SVSU account).
Important Note: SVSU does not currently license Microsoft 365 Copilot (the paid add-on). This version enables deeper integration with Microsoft 365 apps outside of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, and Outlook.
Note: Your responses are protected they are hidden in the users Exchange mailbox that runs and uses Copilot Chat, files that you upload to Copilot store in your OneDrive. You can have up to 30 prompts per chat and a prompt can be up to 8000 characters. The chat history is saved and can only be seen when you have Copilot Chat open, and only you can delete the chat history.
There are several ways to access CoPilot Chat (free GPT-5 features) while signed in with your SVSU credentials. These features are available when using Copilot in Microsoft Edge or within Microsoft 365 web apps, even without a paid license.

- Teams: Click the Copilot button, in the left menu of Teams.

- OneNote: Summarize notes, create action items, and organize content.
- Outlook: Draft email responses, summarize, and suggest tones.

- Word: Rewrite content, summarize documents, and improve clarity and tone.
Copilot Chat and Generative AI Tools at SVSU

Microsoft Edge (AI Powered Browser)
Copilot | Microsoft Edge is an AI Powered Browser with several built in AI features. Edge is supported in Microsoft 365 online apps, Canvas, Echo360, and other SVSU supported apps.
- Copilot Chat AI: Located in the top right of Microsoft Edge.
- AI Search: When you search a word a or phrase AI suggests related matches, even if its misspelled when typing in your query. You’ll see suggested links that you can select. Select text on a online article then right click to read aloud or Ask CoPilot.
- Read aloud with AI: Use read aloud and focus on other tasks without being glued to your screen. You can choose from different voices and accents and pace read to you.
- Text prediction with AI: AI predicts what you are going to write next saves times on your writing. Can it misinterpret? Yes, just keep typing and AI text will keep working.
- Editor: Your AI writing assistant, described above.
- Translate with AI: Select your preferred language with over 70 languages to choose from.
- Auto-named tab groups: From your open tab create a group and AI will automatically name it.
MS Edge Extras not AI
- Sidebar extras: Quickly access to your email and Teams chat panel.
- Collections: Organize pages, ideas, notes, pick up where you left off without searching for that article, video, account login, and even share or export a Collection to Word.
