The Discussion tool in Canvas is updating in the Summer of 2024.

Here are the most notable changes in Discussions Redesign:
- When creating discussions, "Threaded Replies" is no longer an option because discussions are threaded by default.
- Users can choose how to display replies:
- Reply sidebar - sidebar on the right.
- Inline - below the post
- By default, the newest replies are at the top of the first page, but users can change the sorting order to oldest first.
- All threads can be expanded using the "Expand all threads" button.
- @replies and quoting
- Anonymous discussions

The new Discussion Redesign tool will become the default at SVSU on June 29, 2024, right before the Summer 2024 semester begins. If you'd like to turn it on earlier, you can find instructions on how to turn it on at the top of this Canvas Guide page: How do I use Discussions Redesign as an Instructor?
