Ensuring ADA Compliance should always be a priority for anyone creating course and web page content. Whatever the system your content is being distributed from, ensure that uploaded media meets accessibility standards.
Screen readers announce alt text in place of images, enabling all individuals to understand the content of the images or if a browser fails to load a image, the alt text will appear in its place. Explore the site below:
Closed captions for audio and video content must be 99% accurate to ensure 508 standards. EchoVideo, Stream, Teams, and Zoom have automatic transcription but its not perfect, you need review the transcript and edit it for accuracy. Inaccuracies can occur with background noise, speaking too fast, a thick accent, and vocabulary in your speech.
While we can offer suggestions for compliance, the legislation is constantly changing. If you have questions about 508 standards and compliance, please contact the Accessibility Resources and Accommodations office at 989-964-7000, or email at access@svsu.edu .
