How to Process an Order in Unimarket

IMPORTANT!   Enter the Supplier and ITEM NAME exactly as listed for the Dell equipment.

• Log into Unimarket
  • Select Create, then Non-Catalog
• Click Supplier to drop down a list or start typing the name of the Supplier (i.e. Dell - Michigan).
  • If a Supplier does not exist, you may need to cancel this screen and then click Create, Request Supplier
    • Please note - requests for new Suppliers takes time to contact them and have them create their vendor profile and submit the required paperwork in Unimarket.  If you have a contact, help speed up the process by asking them to get their registration completed asap.
• Enter Item Name (for Dell equipment, enter it in precisely as shown in the tables below)
• Enter the Quantity needed and the Unit Price (shown in table below)
• Enter Other Details, you can copy/paste the Specifications or Description of the items being purchased.
  • For some orders, you might copy/paste the link to the site that has details for this item
• Click Add to Cart
• Add additional items if necessary
• Open Cart (shopping cart icon in upper right hand corner)
  • Click Edit to review the line items, or if you must make changes
• Click Checkout when ready to advance the order
  • All IT-related items will go to ITS first, to be checked in and prepared.
  • Select the appropriate Organization Unit the purchase is for
  • Specify the Delivery Date
  • Enter Account Number
  • Enter Delivery Notes
    • Please provide information on who this equipment is being ordered for, including their location.
  • Order attachments 
    • Drag and drop, or browse to supporting documentation for this order (Quotes, HECVAT/VPAT, other...)
  • Enter Justification for this item, and answer the questions that follow.
    • Important - If you are ordering software, make sure you obtain HECVAT and/or VPAT information from the vendors before creating the requisition.
    • If there are additional questions about the process, ask before getting started with the requisition.

Once you finalize the requisition and checkout, the requisition will be reviewed through an approval process (of which you can track status), and upon full approval the system generates the purchase order and is then sent to the Supplier.  As part of the approval process, ITS enters the order into the ITS ticket system in advance to prepare for future deployment. Below are the common account/object codes to use when ordering hardware or software.

Desktop Computers & Laptops (Supplier is Dell - Michigan)

MUST BE PURCHASED VIA UNIMARKET -   Enter the Specific Fields Below for Item Name, Product Code, and Price 

Monitors (Supplier is Dell - Michigan)

MUST BE PURCHASED VIA UNIMARKET

Apple iPad (Supplier is Apple)

MUST BE PURCHASED VIA UNIMARKET

Printer Options

University Managed Print Services

In 2016, the university conducted a review of copier and network printing on campus. It was determined that it would be in the university's interest to consolidate resources and move to a shared device model, under a common service contract. All academic and administrative departments should utilize the centrally located shared multifunction copier/printers to help reduce hardware and service costs, as well as reduce waste.

Ordering Process

All printer requests (with appropriate approvals) must be submitted to ITS via a support ticket.  Toner supplies and paper are acquired from Central Stores. Questions about this process can be directed to the Manager of Technical Services.

Individual Office Printers

The option below is available only to faculty offices with chair/dean approval. Administrative offices should seek consultation from the Manager of Technical Services.

Office printers MUST be connected to the network to provide consumption data for monthly charges.  This requires the office to have an extra Ethernet data port for the printer.  If a port does not exist, the department must secure funding for its installation prior to printer installation.
