Starting May 04, 2026, students can record and submit video presentations. Instructors you can set up an EchoVideo Assignment before its turned on for students.
Overview
Set up a Canvas assignment so students can record and submit their video presentation with EchoVideo.
Video assignments allow students to:
- Record videos using EchoVideo.
- Upload existing media from their devices.
- Easily submit a video assignment using the EchoVideo Homework Embed tool.
Setting up a Canvas Assignment for Video Submission
- Create a new assignment in your Canvas course (or edit an existing one).
- Type in a title for your Assignment, add instructions, and points.
- Set the Submission type to Online, then click the checkbox “Website URL.”

- Set up the rest of the assignment with a due date and availability dates.
- Select, Save and Publish.

For this assignment you will create a video presentation using EchoVideo. You must have a good Internet connection.
Assignment Details:
- Type: Video submission through EchoVideo
- Length: [3–5 minutes]

How to Create and Submit a Video:
- Click the link “myEcho360 Library” in the Canvas menu.
- Click the "Create" button, click Browser Capture. Note: This tool will allow you to record your screen, web camera (optionally you can choose a virtual background), and audio.
- Your recording will store in your Library. You can watch it before submitting.
- Go to the Canvas assignment and click "Submit Assignment." Click the "Echo360 Homework Embed" tab.

Tips for Success:
- Create a quick practice recording to test your audio and video quality.
- Record your presentation, referring to expectations for the Assignment.
- You can upload media you make in another tool, but it will take some time.
- It’s best practice to use the built-in recording tool Browser Capture. Note: If you use your own tools to record a video, IT Support is limited with assisting if you run into any issues.
