There are two apps you can use to connect to a Lifesize meeting as a student or guest. One is the desktop app (requires you to download and install a Lifesize application) and one is the web app (requires you to use a supported browser). Guests and organizations may also connect to a Lifesize meeting using an in-room conferencing system. There is also a Mobile App that is recommended for attending meetings, but not hosting meetings
Web App
Web App Requirements: You must:
- NOT have already installed or opened the Desktop App
- Use one of these supported browsers:
- Google Chrome on Android, MacOS or Windows
- Microsoft Edge on MacOS or Windows
- Apple Safari on iOS or MacOS.
- Note: Requires Google Chrome version 73 or higher (Windows/macOS); version 78 or higher (Android); Microsoft Edge version 76 or higher (Windows/macOS); or Apple Safari version 11 or higher (macOS/iOS).
- Open a supported browser.
- Navigate to the link you received regarding the Lifesize meeting. You may have received the link in Email, a Canvas post or some other form of communication.
- Copy/paste the URL that follows the text “Connect over video, Join with the Lifesize App:” into a new supported browser window.
- Click Allow to allow your microphone and camera to be used during the meeting.
- Type your name and email into the appropriate fields.
- Check the box to agree to the Terms of Service.
- Click Join Meeting.


Desktop App
- If you are not using a supported browser, you will need to download and use the Desktop app. It is recommended to use Google Chrome for downloading the Desktop app.
- Navigate to the link you received regarding the Lifesize meeting. You may have received the link in Email, a Canvas post or some other form of communication.
- Copy/paste the URL (website address) that follows the text “Connect over video, Join with the Lifesize App:” into a new browser window.
- If you have not installed Lifesize before, you will be prompted to save and run the installer application.
- Lifesize opens and the "Join a Meeting" tab is selected.
- Type your name as you'd like to be known in the meeting.
- Click the Join button.

Features Available in Both the Desktop and Web Apps
Preferences
- If you have a webcam, select to use it from the drop-down list. You do not need a webcam to connect to the meeting.
- Choose Next.
- If you have a headset, select “Use computer audio”, if not select “Call in by phone”.
- Use Computer Audio
- Use the test my speakers link to be sure you can hear through the speakers.
- Speak into the microphone to be sure others will be able to hear you with the microphone.
- IF THIS DOESN’T WORK, Click the step “2 Audio preferences” link.
- Call in by phone
- Dial the phone number and extension shown on the screen.
- Click Join

Meeting Controls
Note that, in addition to yourself, the moderator has control of these in-call functions.
- Turn microphone on or off (microphone icon)
- Turn the camera on or off (camera icon)
- Share screen or presentation (computer monitor icon)
- Leave the meeting (downward-facing phone receiver icon)
- More options (3 vertical dots)
- Dial pad
- Far-end camera control
- Camera and audio sources
- View participant list (group icon)
- Pop-out Presentation Window (hover over the presentation and click the icon in the lower right corner. Resize and adjust both windows however you’d like.)
Connect Via a Conference Room System
You can make and receive calls or join meetings with any standards-based conference room system.
- From the Lifesize invitation, under Connect over video, click the link that follows other ways to call.
- Additional meeting information will be displayed. Locate the IP address and extension listed under “Call from a third-party conference room system.
- Type in the IP address and wait for the prompt before entering the extension.
