Overview
You can access the Echo360 (EchoVideo) platform within Canvas which provides you a list of media your instructors have posted for you to watch. The Classes list page allows you to open a lesson to view the media and interact with it and change how you want to view the media.
Note: If you don't see it in the menu your instructor is either not using Echo360 or they have embedded content in a Canvas module.
Opening a Course from the Dashboard
Once you have logged into Canvas, you land on the Dashboard which displays the courses you are enrolled in, click your Course to open it, or click the Courses tool to open your Canvas course.


Accessing Echo360 (EchoVideo)
In Canvas, open your desired course, click on the blue tab labeled Echo360, this will open the Echo360 class list.
Note: If you don't see it in the menu your instructor is either not using Echo360 or they have embedded content in a Canvas module.

When you open Echo360 (EchoVideo), all content is posted by your instructor and is seen on the Classes list page. From here you can search content, sort by, and open a class. If media is available it will be indicated by an media icon (there are 3 types), depending on the type of media it is (video, presentation, interactive media), refer to the sample image below, for a deeper dive check out this article Overview Student Class List.
Open the desired Class to enter the Classroom, you can click anywhere on the Class name to open it.

Note: The Echo360 Course name is the same as the Canvas course the videos are linked to. The word Class refers to the name of the lesson or video.
Overview of the Classroom Player
When a class is opened from the Classes list page, you enter Echo360's Virtual Classroom. There are many features inside of the Classroom player, refer to the sample image below with the defined sections and descriptions.
Classroom Player
- Top: The bar of the player is known as the Classroom Toolbar.
- Middle: Displays the available video sources and presentation (if added to the class).
- Bottom: Features a standard video player with options to control playback quality/speed, apply CC, and more.
Note: The Classroom Toolbar (top-right) differs slightly in appearance for instructors and students, view an image of the similarities and differences. Students have additional icons Notes and a Bookmark icon, instructors do not. Notes and Bookmarks are time-stamped to the locations where students write them.

Navigating the Classroom Player
The Classroom within an Echo360 course allows for interaction of media to help you retain the content, the ability to take Notes, participate in Discussion with your peers or instructor, ask Questions, Bookmark material to go back and review later, Flag any content you find confusing, and respond to polls. Among other features of choosing how you want to view the media.
View the icons and descriptions (see below) to learn how to navigate the Classroom Player from the top, middle, bottom sections; starting from left to right.
Classroom Toolbar: Top
Title of Class and Date of Class (if applicable), the same as seen on the Class List page.
Notes: Opens a new note page that can be used to take notes on the video at the current time stamp
Discussion: Click the icon to open the Q&A (Discussion panel) to view and respond to any questions or comments made.
Q&A New Question: Click the icon to ask a new question to the class, this opens the panel to the right panel of your screen.
Bookmark: This button allows you to bookmark a particular scene (moment in the video) or a specific slide.
Confusion Flag: Marks a specific scene or slide confusing, which the instructor can view later in their own view.
Transcript: Click to display transcript (only displays if the video has been transcribed), as the video plays the transcripts follows in sync to the audio being spoken. View more information on Videos with Transcripts
Classroom List: Click to exit the class, all classes in the course are listed, allowing you to open another class without exiting the classroom player.
Exit the Classroom Player: In the upper-right corner, click on the name of your course to exit the current classroom, returns you to the Classes List page.

Classroom Player: Middle
The middle of the player will display the media published to the class (lesson). This can be a video, presentation, and/or recording of the instructor. You can swap between the media (sources) being presented simply by clicking on it making it the primary screen, hovering over any media will give you options to open it in full screen or close the window.
Note: There may not be a slide presentation in every Echo360 class. The sources displayed can be a various from a screen recording, doc camera, your instructor (as they are teaching), or a presentation (with or without polls).

Presentation controls: If there is a presentation hover over the media to see the controls (see below) if content is cut off, click the media to view the whole slide deck. The presentation slide will appear in the left panel of the Classroom player.
- Top-middle: This allows viewers to select a specific slide.
- Middle left and right arrows: Allows you to switch from the previous slide to the next slide.
- Always be sure to select your answer then click the blue submit button.
- If you have submitted your answer, you can edit it up until the poll is closed by your instructor.
Hidden slides will not show any content. This slide will be seen if your instructor has not made the content available.
Classroom Playback Bar: Bottom
The bottom-left of the player are standard video player controls, sources, CC (closed captions), settings to change the playback quality or speed, and the layout of how the media displays are found in the bottom-right of the player.

NOTE: The video player will always remember where you left off if you exit the virtual classroom or enter another class from the Classroom list icon (top-right).
Play and Pause control: This is a standard play/pause button. The player will remember where you left off once you have started watching a video or participated in poll. When a video is played you will see the pause button.
Rewind and forward controls: The playback controls include the fast forward, and rewind. When you click either button it will to move through 10 seconds at a time in either direction.
Note: You can use the rewind and forward controls, or click the play head to go the location of where you want to review a segment, or start the recording from the beginning. You may also Bookmark a location or take Notes, each is timestamped.
Time/Duration of media: On the left, is the video timestamp of where you are in the video found immediately to the right of the playback controls. On the right, is the duration of the media.
Note: For video views to be accurate, students must view the video in its entirety.
Video Heatmap: Found in bottom-right of the playback bar, next to the volume icon, you can toggle it on/off, it provides a graphical overlay on a video allowing you to see all portions of the video watched most/least.

Volume control: Adjust the volume or mute the audio. Click to move the slider up or down to adjust volume.
Note: To mute/unmute click the volume icon once.
Sources button. Turn on/off video(s) or presentation slides.
Note: If you close a media window, clicking the Sources button will display previously closed media.
Closed Captioning (CC): Click this button to turn on captions for the video, the button is greyed out if it’s not available. View more details on turning on Closed Captions on a video.
Options (gear icon): Click the button to change the video quality and playback speed.
Quality: Allows the ability to switch to a lower quality stream, it might be helpful when there is a poor internet connection.
Speed: Allows variable speed playback, choose from the lowest .5x to the highest speed 2x.
Layout button: The media panels can be toggled between picture-in-picture, tiled, or side-by-side in the Classroom player. Just click the button and choose your preferred view.
