Remove Legacy Exchange Email Account from Android, iOS, Apple Mail, Apple Calendar

 

For security reasons implemented by Microsoft and SVSU all 3rd Party mail applications including: mobile device mail, Apple Mail, and Thunderbird are unable to get SVSU Email and are not supported. Below are instructions for removing legacy Email settings from your phone or Mac OS computer.

You may also access SVSU Email from a web browser at email.svsu.edu on any device. 

Remove an Exchange Account from Android 

Android mail applications are not supported and may not properly access SVSU Email. Use the instructions below to remove an Exchange account on your Android device. 
* It is possible that Exchange Account will show up as a Corporate Account or Microsoft ActiveSync

  1. On your Android device, go to Applications > Email. The Email screen will open. 

  1. On the Email screen, bring up the settings menu and tap Accounts. The Accounts screen will open. 

  1. Press and hold the Exchange Account* you want to delete until the Menu window opens. 

  1. On the Menu window, click Remove Account. A Remove Account warning window will open. 

  1. On the Remove Account warning window, tap OK or Remove Account to finish.

Remove an Exchange Account from iOS 

Apple Mail in iOS is not supported and may not properly access to SVSU Email. Use these instructions to remove an Exchange account from your iPhone or iPad. 

  1. Open Settings on your phone.  

  1. Go to Passwords & Accounts (some older versions of iOS may say Accounts & Passwords or Mail, Contacts, Calendars.) The Accounts screen will open.  

  1. Tap the account you want to remove.  

  1. Scroll down to the bottom of that page and select Delete Account. A Delete Account warning window will open. 

  1. On the Delete Account warning window, click Delete Account to finish. You have successfully deleted your Exchange account.

Apple Mail 

SVSU Email will not be able to be accessed from the Apple Mail application. Instructions on removing an Exchange account from Mac OS. 

  1. Open Apple Mail

  1. Click Mail on the top menu bar and then select Preferences. The Preferences window will open. 

  1. In the Preferences window, click Accounts. The Accounts window will open. 

  1. In the Accounts window, click the Exchange Account you want to delete, then click the minus sign (-). A Remove warning window will open. 

  1. In the Remove warning window, click Remove or OK to finish. You have successfully deleted your Exchange account.

Apple Calendar 

Use the instructions below to remove an Exchange account in Apple Calendar. 

  1. Open the Apple Calendar app on your Mac. 

  1. Click Calendar on the top menu bar and look for Accounts

  1. Select the Account you want to delete. 

  1. Click the Remove button indicated by the minus sign (-) at the bottom of the account list. 

  1. In the Remove warning window, click Remove to finish.
