Service Description
SVSU provides several locations for open student access to computer technology and printers, as well as laptops for checkout within the Library. Instructors may reserve computer labs for coursework, as well.
Open Computer Access Locations
The following computer locations are available for student use, when the university buildings are open.
- Ott Mezzanine
- Zahnow Library, First Floor and Second Floors
- Visit the Circulation Desk (first floor) for information on Laptop Checkout
- Z214 Math Center Lab (when not reserved for Math Physics students)
- C227 – when classes are not scheduled
- C227A
- Kiosk Computers
- Brown Concourse
- Curtiss Groening Commons
- Gilbertson Hall
- HHS Lounge area (first floor)
- Pioneer Lounge area (first floor)
- Student Life Center
- Arbury
Computer Lab Reservations
Faculty requests take precedent over all non-course related computer lab reservations. Courses that require the use of a computer lab must reserve the lab well in advance. Reservations can either be for the entire semester or one-time use.
- Full-semester reservations are treated similar to classroom schedules where the computer lab is associated with the course in the SVSU Course Lookup.
- Department Chairs are expected to work with both full-time and adjunct faculty to schedule their courses and corresponding classrooms and labs.

NOTE: Computer labs are in demand. Failure to properly schedule in advance may result in minimal access to any computer lab.
Periodic, One-Time Reservations (Lab Exceptions)
- To request a periodic, or one-time, use of a computer teaching lab, or a lab exception, please contact the Conference Center at SVSU or speak with your faculty secretary to process the request for you.

- Please submit requests as soon as possible -- at least 10 days prior to your need. Open computer labs may not be reserved (see locations above).
